Event Coverage |
The premiere of the „Battle in da Club“ took place in the Zapata which is a famous scene-club in the nightlife of Stuttgart. On the riderlist were really big names like Nathan Penonzcek, Jesse Puente, the 2005 Flatland World Champ Michael Sommer and the locals Flo Sailer, Sebastian Pospischil and many more. The reason of the international rider participation was that the world championships were one week before and a lot riders stayed in Europe between the WC and the BMX Masters in Cologne this weekend.

The opening with the rider presentation
The event was mixed with party, breakdance acts and exellently BMX flatland freestyle. The riders rode in a kind of battle mode against each other. The oppenents were chosen by lot. In their 5 minute battle they could show their best combos. The 3 judges decided which rider get qualified into the next round. As of the semifinals the spectators are judging. They can vote for their favorite rider by acclaiming. The rider who earns more applause is qualified for the next round.

The local Waldemar Fatkin
Especially the riders from Stuttgart showed an amazing performance. The seventeen year old rookie Waldemar Fatkin made some breathtaking combos this night. That paid-off, because he got an offer from KHE bikes. Flo Sailer, the organizer of this event rode strong and showed his signature trick.

The style of the Japanese riders was a quick with a fantastic kamikaze style. Also Mr Johnny Cash from Bitterfeld rode fresh with an aggressive style.

The actual world champion Michael Sommer from Austria
The battle of the 3rd place was a fight between the darling of the public Jesse Puente/USA and Hiroya Morizake from Japan. Both riders had some problems. Jesse injured his leg one run before and Hiroya his hand. But both bite through and showed an awesome performance in front of the packed flatland arena.

The final was a hard battle between the former world champion Nathan Penonzcek and local Sebastian Pospischil. Both riders had a complete different style. In the End the applause was nearly the same for both. So the judges decided that both guys are the winners.
