His uncle was a popular Moto Cross rider in the
80’s. And Marco Dorsch continued the family tradition.
Marco is one of the greatest Moto Cross talents in Germany.
Last year he rode for the Morgan Suzuki Racing Team the
Canadian Nationals Motocross Championships and this year
he came back with a big deal. He rides in two countries
for two different Moto Cross teams. So lay back and read
the interview …

Marco Dorsch during a practise session in Ansbach/Germany |
Okay Marco, let's start with some basics. Tell my something
about your place of birth and your current residence.
I was born in southern Germany in a city called
Tübingen. Currently I am living in Widdern which is
close to Heilbronn and still in southern Germany.
First time you ever rode a MX bike and when did you start
racing?
First time ever on a bike was 1986. In the same
year I did my first race in Schefflenz.
Who inspired you to race MX?
I grew up with MX right from the start because
my uncle used to be a Pro Motocross Racer in former days.
How important is MX in your life?
Moto Cross is my life!

Marco Dorsch leading the Swiss Masters opener in Frauenfeld |
Tell me something about your experience in Switzerland.
I like to race in Switzerland. The tracks are awesome
and some Swiss buddies of mine are racing, too.
This year you are riding for two different teams.
In Germany you ride for Team Kawasaki Pfeil the German Championship
and in Switzerland you ride for the Yamaha KS Team the Swiss
Masters. Isn’t it difficult to swap bike brands every
weekend?
Actually it’s pretty easy to get use to all
the different bikes. It just takes a few laps to get familiar.
The bike setup is just a bit confusing with the different
bikes.

Marco Dorsch with style | Ansbach/Germany |
What would you change to make the MX sport in Germany
more popular?
I don’t know. There are some people trying
hard to do this, but it really didn’t work out yet.
But I hope it will in the future.
Is the lifestyle of MX comparable to any other extremsports
(Skateboard, BMX)?
It’s kind of comparable. But I think MX is
one of the toughest extremesports. Not only because of big
jumps and high speed. You have to train your physics really
hard to be successful.
Is it important for you to ride with your buddies
and is there a good cohesion between the riders?
Of course I like to ride with my buddies. It’s
kind of boring to ride around the track all by myself.

Marco Dorsch during the Swiss Masters opener in Frauenfeld/CH |
What sport would do you if MX not exists?
It’s hard to say. Maybe I would have grown
up with Go Karting and BMX.
What are your goals
for the future?
To be successful in Moto Cross, to win a few championships
and stay healthy.
Did you ever had a bad crash and did you break something?
I had a couple of big ones. At one crash I dislocated
my right shoulder, dislocated my left hip and broke a part
of my hip joint. Other than that I dislocated my left shoulder
twice and broke my left arm twice. And bruises and sctatches
all over the body …

Did you ever think about a life after MX?
Sure sometimes. But at the moment im 100% focused
on what I’m doing right now which is riding bikes.
Favorite location to ride?
Maggiora in Italy.
Does music push
you to go bigger? What kind of music do you prefer?
It depends on my daily mood. I’m not really
listen to only one kind of music.
What
is more important for you - the sport or the industry?
Without the industy there was no sport.

support the MX sport?

Anything you want to tell the people out there?
Keep on riding and never give up!
Last words … please give the kids some basic
tips, how they could start with MX easily, if they want
to?
Get a bike and ride it!
Thanx 4 the interview and good luck 4 the future! |
