story & pics by Marcus Köhler and Markus Erpel

One of the most spectacular events of Skateboarding the 23rd Globe Championship of Skateboarding" took place from 16th to 18th July in Dortmund. The best Skaters from all over the world and even some well-known like Chris Senn, Bastien Salabanzi and Aaron Suski where there to show their best skating and get the title of the World champion.

“The Course ”

The course of the mastership this year was built by the "Woodworx-Team". It was opened for the first time on Friday and some of the guys used it for a little practise session.

“The Sound Mixery”

On Friday evening Samy Deluxe performed on the Stage at the "Viva Mixery Raw Deluxe" Opening Party and gave the day a good ending.

“The Legends Vert Jam”

The first winner of this weekend was Tony Magnussen who won the TSG Legends Vert Jam on Saturday. The stage was filled with pure Punk and Rock n´ Roll on this night, because no others than the Misfits, Exploited and the Bones were rocking on the Monster Rocknight.

“The Gallaz Girl Jam”

The Gallaz Girl Jam was just the beginning of an eventful final day. Venessa Torres ripped the course with tricks like 50-50 into FS Boardslides and took home the first place. On 2nd Lauren Perkins and on 3rd 14-years old Lyn-Z Adams Hawkins.

“The Vert-Final ”

x-games gold medalist Andy McDonald was in good shape and won the vert finals. Mike Crum got 2nd followed by Neal Hendrix in 3rd.

After a long day of skateboarding the finals were at least happening. After a couple of tries Sandro Dias was the third skateboarder after Tony Hawk and Giorgio Zattoni who did the 900° and was the first one who did it in Germany.

The audience expected a high level and shouldn’t be dissappointed. Bastien Salabanzi did a “ nollie Bickspin kickflip” over the pyramid and took home the golden trophy becauso of his great performance in the final run. This is his third world champion-title after 2001 and 2002.
Daniel Vieira and Rodil Junior also did a great job and finished second and third. Another highlight was Chris Senn doing the loop.

“Resume”

The 23rd Monster Mastership Worldchampionships of skateboarding was an awesome skateboard event and a good promotion for the global skateboard scene and especially the skateboarding scene in Germany, where the extremesports need more acceptation.
