Event Coverage |
This year the SuperCross-Over in Munich took place from 16th to 18th of December. A really great organization, a well prepared track, a lot of good riders and a nearly sould out “Olympia hall” on Saturday were the promising preconditions. In every class, 125ccm, 250ccm and 450ccm the riders had to do two runs for qualifying to the super final. The first five places of the 250ccm and 450ccm were authorized for the super final, only two riders had the chance to go through the last chance qualifying.

Spectacular Action and cute girls in Munich ...
125ccm
The victory in this class went to Fabien Izoried (1/3). The French rider won the first heat, where he moved from 3rd to 1st position during the race and passed his Kawasaki Pfeil teammate Florent Richier and EBS- Sturm rider Manuel Chittaro from Germany. In the 2nd heat Izorid came from 8th and finished 3rd. He saved the overall victory in the last corner of the 2nd heat were he overjumped Alex Heu. Only one point behind Izorid Germans Chittaro (4/1) and Richier (2/2) finished 2nd and 3rd overall, respectively. Especially for Chittaro this podium was important for his self-esteem.

Manual Chittaro looked great on the bike and finished 2nd
In all Super Cross races before this winter he was fast in training sessions, but in Munich it was the first time with a good result in racing. Mentionable was, of course, KTM Sarholz rider and German champion Marcus Schiffer (5/9). He was the fastest rider on the track but had bad luck with crashes and bad starts. On this track, where only the inside was the fastest line, Schiffer had to risk a lot to pass other riders. In the first heat he pulled from 10th position after the start to 5th. The race was only to short for a better position in the end. In the second heat Schiffer came from 11th place and was already in 5th after four laps and was ready to go for the heat victory. But a crash in the whoops destroyed his hopes. Another German hopeful rider, Alex Heu (3/4), finished 4th overall. A really hard block pass against Martin Kohut (DNF) was breathtaking for the fans.

250ccm
Collin Dugmore (1/3), like Chittaro on a EBS- Sturm Kawasaki, was a strong winner of the 250 two stroke class. A start-finish victory in heat one was followed by a 3rd place, where he passed four riders. Dugmore teammate Evan Laughridge (6/1) finished 2nd overall. Heat one was a non paying attention race for the Stuttgart, Chemnitz and Vienna winner, in heat two he did it like Dugmore with a start-finish victory. Wyatt Avis (2/4), KTM Sarholz, finished 3rd. He looked great on the track, aggressive and with a lot of style. For example in heat one he passed Phillipe Dupasquier with a rough but sensationell block pass. A further German rider, Daniel Siegl (10/7) had no chances because of bad starts.

Collin Dugmore is in a brillant shape and won the 250ccm class
450ccm
Julien Vanni won the 450ccm class wirh a (1/4) result. Jason Thomas finished 2nd (2/3) in front of Marco Dorsch (3/1). In heat one, the “Joker” was 2nd till one lap before the chequered flag went down. Because of a injury and an infection Dorsch had no chance against Thomas and let him pass without fighting. In the second heat Dorsch finished 1st and had a bit of luck because Danny Ham and Eric Nye crashed directly behind Dorsch. As a result of this crash Dorsch had a gap of some seconds and won clearly.

The Joker Marco Dorsch had a great Comeback after his injury

Bad luck for Daniel Siegl in the last chance qualifying. After a middle rated start he passed four riders in lap one. Lying in 3rd position, he needed one more place to become 2nd for the super final. A crash stopped him and his hopes for the final. Dupaquier and Cedric Mannevy did it for the final.

Mr. "unstopable" Evan Laughridge won the Superfinal
Superfinal
The highlight on Saturday was the super final. Again it was a clear start-finish victory for Evan Laughridge. He won with nearly 4 seconds in front of Avis, Julien Vanni and Dugmore. The fans were enthused because of an awesome fight between Dugmore, Vanni, Avis and Jason Thomas. About half of the race these four riders battled side by side with permanent changing in the rankink. Finally Avis and Vanni passed Dugmore and finished on the podium.
