The 25th ADAC-Super Cross took place traditionell in the Hans-Martin-Schleyer-Hall.
Over the 2 race days there were more than 13.000 enthusiastic fans…and after the event they knew they did the right choice.
The overall victory went to Jason Thomas (2nd on Friday main/1st on Saturday). It is the 3rd victory in the last 3 years for him. And each of them with the same heat results on Friday and Saturday. Thomas on his Waldmann Honda is not one of these guys who ride on the edge or in a very spectacular way. He has always good starts and a really good speed and this very constant lap by lap.
2nd place on the podium went to likeable Frenchman Florent Richier (1/5). Richier was fastes on Friday and did an impressive win. On Saturday he has to go through the last chance heat and so he had a bad place on the gate and a bad start, as well. He overtook several riders but the race was to short to do the podium.
Pleasant was the third man on the podium. This was Rodrig Thain (8/2), another Frenchman. Thain won the first night in Stuttgart 2006, then had a big crash in the next Super Cross in Munich and was out for several months.
Now it is nice to see that he is back as fast as in former times. On Saturday final he pushed a lot of pressure on Thomas till the chequered flag went down. Only 1 second was behind the 2 rivals.
The best German rider was Daniel Siegl (3/13). It was his first coming out with his new Inotec Ortema Suzuki team after many years with Kölling Yamaha. Like in the last years Siegl is the only German who is a regular in the finals.
On Friday Siegl was as fast as Rodrigues and Thomas and lying on a good 4th position when he looked at the battle Rodrigues/Thomas for 2nd position.
In the last lap Rodrigues made a mistake and crashed really hard over his handlebars. Thomas earned the second place and Siegl got third. It was great for the German fans to have one of their own on the podium.
In the second night Siegl was again one of the fastest riders but had bad luck in his semi final and then in the last chance race as well. This last chance heat was like a final with Richier, Siegl and Rodrigues. Siegl was in 2nd positon after passing Rodrigues, enough for the final. But then Siegl was the victim of a over-motivated rider named Rodrigues.
With a hard block pass he tried to pass Siegl…as a result of this move both riders crashed out of the race. Siegl got a wildcard for the main but crashed again and finished in last position.
Mentioable things from Stuttgart:
• Collin Dugmore crashed on Friday and broke his collarbone
• Antoine Letellier crashed on Friday and was out for Saturday action, as well
• Siegl and another German, Steffen Leopold were the only riders with 2-stroke machines on the gate in MX1 class
• Jens Wiedemann was the best German rider in MX2. He looked very smooth on the track and it seems he will be one of the guys who will race MX1 with success
• Dutchman Rinus van der Veen won overall MX2
• 14 years old Domenique Thury (German master 80ccm 2007) was the first time out on a 250 4-stroke KTM and rode really awesome!!!
