story by Matthias Friebe | pics by Tobias Hannig

The 27th issue of the traditional ADAC Supercross in the Schleyerhalle Stuttgart was a great event with an all-time record of 15.830 spectators. The people got entertained with finest Supercross action on a really technical SX track with a lot of flow and of course with a Freestyle Motocross show performed of some great riders. And Willi Schmid (clerk of the course since the first event 1983) said "Goodbye" after 27 years doing a great job for the ADAC.

Day 1: Friday, November 13th

What happened in SX1?
Friday was the night of Cole Siebler. Winning every race he participated including heat race, semi final and main event, he was dominating the whole evening. No one could reach the Honda Meyer team rider.

Cole Siebler

Second place on Friday went to Pfeil Kawasaki rider Florent Richier. As everytime Richier rode with much style and after a good start he finished second in the main event but was not really able to challenge leader Siebler.

Florent Richier

Ben Evans, on the Honda Meyer, as well, was the third man on the podium. Last year he has won the SX2 class in Stuttgart and just one year later he is an aspirant for victories in the big class.

Best German rider was Daniel Siegl on his TEKA Suzuki Europe. After winning his heat race he crashed out of the semi final and then come back to the final with a win in the last chance race. In the final Siegl was in a fight for 5th position with Cedric Soubeyras (France, Sarholz KTM) when both riders toucjed each other and Siegl hit the ground just two corners before the checkered flag went down. Finally Siegl finished in 9th position.

Unlucky fellow on Friday was Teddy Maier. Being the fastest man in practice he wasn’t able to qualify for the semi final. A big crash on a double jump in the heat race and a further crash in the first lap of the last chance forced him out of the evening.

What happened in SX2?

Jack Brunell was the winner after two main events in Class SX2. 6th position in race one and a win in race two was enough to win th overall classification ahead of Boris Maillard.

Boris Maillard was dominating the first race and if he not crashed in the first lap of the second moto there would be no other winner on Friday than Maillard. After two solid races Shan Terreblanche was third overall. Dominique Thury was the one and only German who was able to qualify himself for the final races in the evening. He finished 9th overall.

Day 2: Saturday, November 14th

On Saturday the „Schleyer Halle“ in Stuttgart was nearly sold out. And this evening was one of the best in the last couple of years. And this was not because of class SX1 as usual but SX2 class. The man who rocks the house in both SX2 finals was German rider Dennis Baudrexl.

What happened in SX1?

The main event looks like a trainings session for EBS team riders Travis Sewell and Tiger Lacey in the early stages. Sewell and Lacey, both from the USA, were leading easily in the first laps and the gap to Jacob Marsack in 3rd position was already over 5 seconds in lap 5. This remains till lap 12 when Sewall made a small mistake in a corner and he crashed. Not hard but he needed 2 laps to restart his EBS – Kawasaki.

Tiger Lacey

Now it was an easy job for Tiger Lacey. On Friday was leading the main event for some laps as well but he lost his energy and dropped back to 6th position. On Saturday he could defend his lead to the finish line.

Jason Thomas

Jason Thomas (Team Twenty Suspension) was surprisingly in second position at the end. The former winner of the SX in Stuttgart had no good weekend at all. But he brought it together for the big final on Saturday and finally only 0.49 seconds behind winner Lacey and just 1.48 ahead of Teddy Maier.

Jason Thomas (2nd), Tiger Lacey (1st) and Teddy Maier (3rd)

For the German riders it was a different evening. Manuel Chittaro had had a bad evening on Friday, but on Saturday he showed his potential by winning the semi final in front of names like former winners Jason Thomas and Cole Siebler.

Swiss Masters Winner Manuel Chittaro won the Semifinal on Saturday

In the main event Chittaro has bad luck and crashed in the first corner after the start. Daniel Siegl, normally Germanys best rider in class SX1 couldn’t qualify himself for the final. After a big fight in the last chance race with Davide Esposti Siegl missed the final only by 0.51 seconds. Both riders swapped their positions several times and in the End Esposti has a bit more of luck.

Cole Siebler is the new “King of Stuttgart”. After winning Friday’s main event he finished on a solid 4th place on Saturday. That was enough to secure the overall victory.

What happened in SX2?

The first of two main events was a clear victory of Filip Thureson on his Bodo Schmidt Suzuki. Second place went to a consistent Jack Brunell. He finished every race on both nights in top 6 places and was the winner on Friday. The best German riders were Dominique Thury and Dennis Baudrexl in 4th and 5th position, respectively. Already in this race Baudrexl showed great fighting skills. After a crash in the first lap he came back from last position to 5th.

SX2: Dennis Baudrexl made the Race of his career from place 10th to 1st

The second main event is not easily to summarize in words. It was the one man show of Dennis Baudrexl. A bad start which dropped him back to 11th position after the first corner he starts to fight back to the top. The time was really short to save a good result because the distance of 10 laps is short. In every lap he passed an opponent. His way to ride and to pass other riders looked so awesome and aggressive!!!! The final showdown in the last two laps could not get any better. Passing German outdoor champion Neugebauer and Greedy from the USA it was still one lap to go and only Jack Brunell was in front of Baudrexl in first position.

In this last two rounds the crowed goeas really crazy…most of them could not sit any more…standing up and screaming for Baudrexl. And in fact, just two corners before the finish line he went on the inside of Brunell, both riders touched each other and Baudrexl tooks the lead and the win!
