23rd ADAC Supercross Stuttgart

The 23rd ADAC-Supercross took place in Stuttgart on November, 11th/12th 2005. This event was again well organized and at both evenings the nearly sold out arena was rocked by Supercross action at its best. This year it was the first time the whole infield in the arena could be used for the track. An atmosphere like in a stadium and an about 90 meters extended track were the results of this changing. Sadly local hero Marco „The Joker“ Dorsch, last year 2nd overall in MX1 class, was not able to ride this year sx edition in Stuttgart. A broken collarbone, caused by a heavy crash one week ago in Genua, prevented the „Joker“ from riding there.

"The Saturday "- November, 12th, 2005

Already the MX1 heat races were great sport. Julien Vanni on his easy.tv Kosak KTM won the first heat in front of Danny Ham (TKM- Suzuki). On Saturday Ham impressed with his speed in the whoops, probably the fastest rider in this section. He came to 2nd position from outside the top eight in lap one. Jason “JT” Thomas, 2nd in Friday main, qualified in 3rd position for the semi final, followed by his Honda Waldmann teammate Eric Nye. Dobes was not able to qualify himself directly for the semi final in this heat.

The victory of the second heat race went to EBS- Team Sturm member Evan Laughridge. Yesterdays winner qualified easily in front of Doug Dehaan, winner in previous years and German Daniel Siegl. On his two stroke Kölling Yamaha Siegl fought back from a bad start, nearly in last position, but after lap two he was in third position. One of the favourites for the main, Kornel Nemeth, crashed hard after the whoops section and injured his knee. After this crash he had to quit for this day.

After a clean hole shot 37 years old and the crowds favourite, Collin Dugmore, finished in 4th position in heat race three behind a strong winner Wyatt Avis, first time on a KTM Sarholz, Dylon Lord (USA) and Phillipe Dupasquier.

Joes Dobes won the first of two last chance races for the semi final. It seemed Dobes was fast in turns and jumps, but the whoops section was not a friend of Dobes. He crashed there several times or lost a lot of time in each round. Clement Descal was the winner of the second last chance race. He defended the first place against former Stuttgart winner Andreas Boller. So Boller was out again before the semi finals get started.

A further race victory went to Evan Laughridge in the first semi, again in front of Jason Tomas. Siegl was in promising 4th position and rode smooth and fast and attacked the rider in front of him, but crashed in the whoops and was out of the race. The second semi final went to Philippe Dupasquier followed by Austrian Marcus Mauser and Dehaan. KTM Sarholz rider Wyatt Avis attracted attention because he drove aggressive and fast and overtook many riders on his way from last to 5th position.

Danny Ham by Thomas Minde

Last chance for the main was an impressive win for Danny Ham, 2nd place went to Eric Nye. The Germans Siegl, Dugmore and Dobes had no chance to qualify for the main. Siegl had to quit after two laps because of his crash in the semi final.
In the final the positions were assigned fast. After a big crash in lap one, Vanni and Nye were involved, Jason Tomas and Evan Laughridge used their chance to pull away from the other riders and finished 1st and 2nd in Saturday main. Danny Ham, finished on the podium, as well. Ham did an awesome race coming from last position after a bad start.

In MX2 class Marcus Schiffer on his 250 four stroke KTM Sarholz dominated Saturday evening. Schiffer looked every time smooth and easy and won the final with a gap of about 7 seconds in front of Jeremie von Horebeek and Vincent Berthome. Berthome came back strong after he crashed in the first corner. 4th place, after a good battle with Berthome, went to Andre Adrian. Alex Heu, winner of the first day, crashed after the start with the two fast Czech riders Kohut and Michek. Only with one lap behind he could continue the race and finished 9th.

Also a Freestyle Motocross show took place at the end of both days. Fab Bauersachs, Freddy Peters, Lukas Weis and Marc Fischer rocked to crowd with sick tricks. Because of the low rooftop they only could jump a 15 meter gap.
